Pop Smoke Killing Update: LA Police Make 5 Arrests

Los Angeles police said they arrested five people in connection with the assassination of Bashar Jackson on February 19 – the rapper better known as Pop Smoke.

Three men and two young men were arrested, the Los Angeles Police Department announcement Thursday.

Police have not released the names of those arrested or given details of the crimes they are suspected of committing.

“We will provide further details as soon as they are available,” the agency said.

Jackson was 20 years old when he was found injured by gunshot in a house of the district of Hollywood Hills at the beginning of the year. He was later declared dead.

Initial reports indicated that the house, a rental, had been robbed.

Jackson had experienced a rapid rise in the music world, based on the success of his single “Welcome to the Party”. His name came back to the headlines this month, with the posthumous release of his first album, Shoot the stars Aim for the moon.
