SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle police are investigating another shooting that occurred near the city’s “busy” protest area.
The filming took place Tuesday around 5 am in the Capitol Hill district east of downtown. A spokesperson for the Harborview Medical Center said the injuries were not fatal.
The police did not immediately release more information. It was the third recent shootout near the “Occupied Capitol Hill Protest”.
Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan said Monday the city will dismantle the protest area after the shooting.
The mayor said the violence distracts the changes sought by thousands of peaceful protesters who oppose racial inequality and police brutality.
Durkan also said that the police will soon return to a police station that the department has largely abandoned in the region after clashes with protesters after the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police.
